Amy Ryan
Amy Ryan, Intern
I am a Master's student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Eastern Washington University. Prior to my graduate training, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Western Washington University, where I also assisted in two research laboratories that explored the psychometric properties of the BSI-18 and the self-expansion model of romantic relationships. I also have prior experience at a nonprofit as a behavioral health coordinator, where I worked with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
I believe therapy offers an opportunity for discovery, self-reflection, and, ultimately, transformation. I approach the therapeutic process with curiosity, genuineness, and compassion. Theoretically speaking, I draw from cognitive-behavioral and existential perspectives to help conceptualize your life journey and challenges. My overall style is warm and direct, always honoring and recognizing the expertise you bring to your life and the counseling process. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals who navigate life with chronic pain and chronic illness.
Outside of academic and professional interests, I enjoy acrylic painting, hiking, traveling, and gardening.
